CS2 skin taxes,
without the
spreadsheet
Connect your accounts. We track every item you ever bought or sold — down to the stickers — and turn a year of trades into one report.
Opening in batches ahead of the 2026 tax season.
Same trades.
Two tax bills.
Your payouts show what you were paid — never what you spent. If you can’t prove the difference, the whole payout can be taxed as profit.

The difference between $720 and $14,400 is proof.
Itemtax builds it for you, item by item.
Illustrative — same trades, 24% rate.
Three steps.
No spreadsheets.
A weekend of reconciling by hand, in about five minutes.

Do I owe tax on CS2 skin sales?
In most countries, yes — selling a skin at a profit is a taxable event, the same as any other property. It makes no difference whether you bought it back when the game was CS:GO; the rename changed the client, not your cost basis. Whether the profit counts as capital gains or trading income depends on how much you trade, which is a question for an accountant.
Does Itemtax file my taxes?
No. It does the part that takes a weekend: working out what every item actually cost you, with the evidence attached. Your accountant takes it from there.
Why can’t I just do this in a spreadsheet?
You can, for a few hundred trades. Past that it breaks: the same skin bought five times at five prices, two copies with different stickers and floats, a purchase on Buff163 in yuan sold on CSFloat in dollars, fees on both sides, and a Steam inventory history that never says which copy left. Itemtax follows each item end to end with a proprietary matching engine, so every sale lands on the right purchase and the right cost.
How do you know which item I sold?
Two skins with the same name are not the same item — float, pattern, stickers and where it came from all set them apart. Our matching engine uses those differences to follow each item from the moment it entered your inventory to the moment it left, across every account you connect. When a line genuinely cannot be settled, the report says so instead of guessing.
Do I have to upload anything?
No exports, no CSVs, no spreadsheets. You connect your accounts once and we read the history directly.
Which marketplaces are supported?
Steam, Buff163, CSFloat, Skinport and Bitskins. They go live venue by venue during early access, and your invite will say which are ready.
Does Steam report my sales to the IRS?
No. Steam stopped collecting tax information and issuing 1099 forms for the Community Market in 2020, and it no longer locks the market at 200 sales. That does not make the sales tax-free — income is reportable whether or not a form exists — and marketplaces that pay out cash, or the payment processors behind them, can report you where Steam does not.
When does it open?
We are onboarding in batches before the 2026 tax season. The waitlist holds your place and locks these prices for your first year.
